Your Heart Knows the Truth

Spoken Word Poem by Ricky @ Sacred Harmony Reiki

Every day, from the moment we open our eyes, the world starts talking at us. Notifications, headlines, voices on the street, our own minds rehearsing the endless to-do list. We live in a storm of noise. Some of it is helpful, sure. Some of it keeps the wheels turning. But a lot of it? It’s distraction, distortion, and disguise.

And in the middle of that storm sits something ancient, quiet, steady.

Your heart.

Your heart knows the truth.

Not the truth your boss expects. Not the truth society shouts from billboards. Not even the truth your family might want you to live out so they can feel safe. The deeper truth. The truth of who you are. The truth of what you came here for.

And the thing is, your heart never lies.

The Difference Between the Mind and the Heart

The mind is a genius storyteller. It’s clever, creative, quick. But it’s also slippery. The mind rehearses excuses, plays worst-case scenarios on loop, gets caught in comparison and self-doubt. It performs like a politician trying to win votes.

The heart doesn’t play that game. It doesn’t need a campaign speech. It doesn’t care about likes or applause.

The heart speaks in rhythm. It beats in blood. It speaks through resonance,

through that full-body feeling of yes or no.

Think about it: the moments in life where you just knew. When you walked into a room and felt at home without anyone saying a word. When you met someone and the connection was instant, undeniable. When you stood at the edge of a decision and even though the mind said, don’t risk it, your chest lit up with go, go, go.

That’s the heart.

Why We Stop Listening

Most of us learned early on to doubt that voice. To trust the textbooks, the teachers, the rules. To make choices that look good on paper, even if they feel hollow inside.

We’re conditioned to chase external approval, even if it costs us our inner alignment.

We silence the body when it whispers, I’m tired. We ignore the gut when it says, this isn’t right. We bury the heart when it cries, please, not this, I want more.

And slowly, we forget how to listen.

Not because the truth disappeared. But because we got too loud to hear it.

Coming Back to the Heart

Here’s the miracle: the heart doesn’t give up. It waits. Patient. Ancient. Unshaken.

You can cover it with busyness, numb it with scrolling, drown it in expectations. But the moment you pause, the moment you breathe, the heart steps forward.

It whispers: you already know.

And that whisper is enough to change everything.

Daily Practices to Tune In

So how do we bring this into our daily lives, not just in moments of crisis, but in the ordinary Monday mornings, the coffee runs, the emails?

Here are some practices I use, and that you can begin weaving into your days:

  1. The Pause Practice: Before you answer a message, make a decision, or even pick your outfit for the day, pause. Place a hand on your chest. Breathe once. Ask: Does this feel heavy or light? Let the body answer before the mind jumps in.

  2. The Five-Minute Check-In: Each morning, before the noise starts, sit quietly for five minutes. Don’t force meditation. Just breathe, notice your heartbeat, and ask, What truth do you want me to know today? Write the first words that come. Trust them.

  3. Movement as Listening: Sometimes the heart speaks more clearly when we move. Go for a walk without your phone. Dance in your kitchen. Let the rhythm of your body tune you back to the rhythm of your heart.

  4. The Truth Journal: At night, write one thing that felt aligned and one thing that didn’t. Over time, patterns appear. You’ll start to see the map your heart has been drawing all along.

Why This Matters

When you live from the mind alone, life can feel like performance. You’re always on stage, waiting for the next round of applause. But when you live from the heart, life becomes presence. You stop trying to get it “right” and start living it real.

The heart doesn’t promise easy. But it promises authentic. It promises alive.

And isn’t that what we’re here for? Not to tick the boxes, but to feel the pulse of life running through us? To wake up every morning knowing we’re living aligned, not performing rehearsed scripts that never belonged to us?

Bringing Abundance Into the Picture

Here’s the beautiful twist: when you follow the heart, abundance follows you.

Not always in the way you expect. It’s not about chasing money or status, it’s about living in the flow where opportunities, connections, and synchronicities magnetize to you because you are finally aligned.

Energy expands when you’re heart-led.

People feel it.

Doors open.

Support shows up.

You stop forcing, and start allowing.

The truth is, abundance is natural.

Resistance is what blocks it. And the heart, steady, honest, brave, teaches us to drop the resistance and live open.

The Invitation

So here’s my invitation: today, even just once, choose to trust your heart over your mind.

When the options are laid out, don’t just calculate, listen.

When you feel torn, don’t just think, pause.

Because your heart knows the truth.

The only question is...will you follow it?

And imagine, just for a second, what your life would look like if you did.
